Welcome to share a room with hippos!

In my home on Södergatan in central Varberg, I have created a small Bed & Breakfast, although I have translated it to Husrum & Frukost in Swedish. The concept is the same. You live at my house, though with your own entrance. I share beds, pictures, books, lawn, and clothesline. And if you want, I’ll make breakfast. Me and my hundreds of hippos welcome you and hope you will enjoy your stay! / Elisabeth

Elisabeth's tips on Varberg walks

Varberg is known as a summer town, but the dachshund Bertil has helped sniff out the best walks all year round. Come along!

The Hippo’s Bed & Breakfast

Already when you enter through the gate to Södergatan 37, you can guess that my little Bed & Breakfast has something to do with a certain aquatic mammal. A hippopotamus can be glimpsed in the paving of the parking lot, and if you look up at the ceiling, two conspecifics watch from the chimneys. The fence is also adorned by a blue somewhat chubby hippo, and once inside the sheltered leafy garden, a very bright blue life-sized hippo graze.

In the gently renovated and carefully furnished rooms, I offer cosy accommodation all year round for those who visit Varberg. My aim has been to create a calm oasis in the spirit of culture, which is as stimulating for the conversation-hungry friends as it is stress-relieving for the tired business traveller. Paintings and artwork invite discussion and there is often a small personal story behind the objects. At the same time, those looking for peace and quiet can sink into a comfortable armchair with a good book from one of the shelves.
